FAQs

As early as possible is the short answer! Once you’ve established the “team” you are working with – interior designer, architect, builder, etc – it’s best to kick off the project with a collective vision from the start. We recommend holding an initial project kick-off meeting so that everyone is on the same page. But, we are always happy to jump into a project at whatever stage you are in the process and make it work!

After you’ve submitted an online inquiry and selected a time to set up a call, we will start with a short discussion to quickly determine the scope of your project and if we are a fit – we’ll get on the same page from the start. From there, we move to the next step of an in-home consultation.

All of the planning and decisions for a home renovation or design can be overwhelming. LHD’s main goal is to take the stress and worry away so that you feel confident in the investment and decisions you make. We will go on a journey together that is structured, yet fun, using our proven system. We keep an honest and open line of communication throughout the process. It’s so important to us that you have an enjoyable experience working with our team and know you have an advocate on your side. We hope to encourage and motivate you to consider design elements outside of your comfort zone yet fit within your style and desired outcome. It’s fun to be a little more adventurous in just the right areas – it’s why you want to partner with us!
-
We ask that anyone involved in the decision-making process join our initial meeting. We’d love to see some inspirational photos and/or share your Pinterest board. This is the time to bring your list of burning questions or let us know if you’re stumped in a certain area. Also, it’s important to think about your desired timeframe for your project, so that we can help set realistic goals.

Absolutely! During the exploratory design phase - this is a crucial step that allows us to plan for your project, meet with contractors/builders and put a projected budget together based on the level of quality/cost we discuss. Once meetings with the “team” occur, you will have more detailed information from LHD, your architect and your builder or trade professionals.

The design process time frame varies depending on the type of project and the extent of the scope of work. After the initial discovery phone call, we then determine if the next step should be an in-home consultation. If so, during this consultation, we will determine your project needs and desires, the scope of work and where it is important to you to save vs. splurge. From this information, we will create a customized consultation report for to you to keep. Should you decide to move forward with the design, the next step would be an exploratory design planning phase.
During the exploratory design planning phase, LHD will gather cost/investment associated with the scope of work for your project. This phase consists of on-site planning, rough sketches/drawings, meetings with contractors/trades (costs for labor) and a budget for all fixtures and finishes. This allows you to make informed decisions about your project before jumping into it. Depending on the level of involvement and scope of work, the process can take a few weeks to a few months.
